Effective as of June 1, 2023
The Sexual Assault & Intimate Violence Helpline is a 24/7 confidential crisis helpline for GW community members impacted by sexual harassment, sexual assault, dating and domestic violence, and stalking.
What should I expect when calling SAIV?
Greeting and Introduction
Once you are connected, a SAIV Helpline specialist will greet you and share important information regarding confidentiality.
Safety Assessment
You will be asked for basic info that will ONLY be used in urgent situations to deploy emergency services and assess for urgent safety concerns. You are not required to answer, and your information will not be shared with Title IX or constitute a report.
Direct Support and Referrals
The specialist will offer support by talking through on-campus or community resources, describing available services, and/or providing emotional support, crisis counseling, and safety planning as needed.
The SAIV Helpline replaced the previous SARC (Sexual Assault Response & Consultation Team) hotline. The phone number 202-994-7222 remained the same.
