Injunction Impacts Implementation of 2024 Title IX Regulations

On April 29, 2024, the U.S. Department of Education published new Title IX regulations that outline how colleges and universities must respond to reports of sex discrimination and sex-based harassment. The regulations become effective as of August 1, 2024. However, a recently issued injunction that applies to nearly 700 universities, including GW, blocks the Department of Education from enforcing the 2024 Title IX regulations for any of the universities covered by the injunction. Unless, and until the injunction is lifted or narrowed, the existing regulations remain in effect. Therefore, GW’s current Title IX Sexual Harassment and Related Conduct Policy will remain in effect until further notice.                                                                                                                                                                              Updated Thursday, July 25, 2024
