Report an Incident

Sexual Assault Response & Consultation Team (SARC)

The Sexual Assault Response & Consultation (SARC) team is a 24/7 resource for any GW community member affected by sexual or gender-based harassment, sexual assault, sexual exploitation, intimate partner violence or stalking.

SARC members work at GW and volunteer their time outside of work to help you address your situation and make decisions about a path forward.

SARC members receive special training on sexual and intimate partner violence, trauma, and community resources so that they can offer the most appropriate assistance to callers.

How SARC Can Help

SARC members can:

  • Help evaluate and address your safety, medical, or other immediate needs
  • Assist you in identifying counseling, advocacy, legal, and other support needs
  • Assist with transportation to Washington Hospital Center for a medical-forensic exam
  • Arrange follow up with the Title IX Office or other university departments to provide ongoing assistance
  • Explain police and university reporting options

Privacy of Your Call

When you call the SARC line, a GWPD dispatcher will answer. Just ask to be connected with the SARC team. The dispatcher will ask for your contact number-- you aren't required to share anything else. The SARC team member on call will then contact you at the number you provide.

SARC calls are extremely private. However, the SARC team member will pass your information along to the Title IX Office, so that you can have ongoing follow up and assistance. If you would prefer that your identity not be disclosed, you may request to remain anonymous and that request will be honored.
